Where to find us at Gran Canaria Airport

The SIXT desk at LPA can be found right in the arrivals area of the airport. From national arrivals go to the other end of the terminal and you will find the SIXT desk next to the Information point. From international arrivals you will see the SIXT desk as you get to the baggage collection belts. To return your car hire to LPA, go towards Rent a Car Parking 2, go through the automatic gates and, following the signs, you will find the entrance to SIXT returns on the left. The drop off zone is behind the access ramp to the right.

Explore Gran Canaria with your hire car

With your Gran Canaria hire car you can easily explore the entire island. The capital, Las Palmas, with its sandy beaches and shopping opportunities is a 20-minute or so drive from the airport. Be sure to investigate the old town and absorb the history of the cathedrals and monuments. If you want to venture further afield take a trip into the mountains of the interior and visit Pico de las Nieves, the island’s highest point which is around an hour’s drive from the city. Alternatively, hire a car from LPA and head 40 minutes south from the airport to the Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve.

I’m fully aware of the challenges rental car companies face nowadays - shortage of cars, demand is picking up rapidly and all. Yet, renting out such damaged cars is unheard of for me - especially for Sixt. Sixt claims it has the largest fleet of luxury cars, bt in my opinion, there is nit much luxury about driving around in a damaged Audi. Also, as a Diamond member of Sixt, I’m used to get a great choice of upgrades. Nowadays, upgrades are tough to come by. It’s not a huge deal, rather something slightly disappointing. There wasn’t even an automatic car available. The staff at the station is friendly, attentive and do their best to make me feel welcome and valued as a costumer, and that’s what keeps me coming back.
