Things to see in Lima, Peru, with a car rental [/h3

Boasting 43 districts, this sprawling coastal metropolis is well suited to car hire to cover the distances between attractions. Try a visit to the 'Boulevard of Gastronomy', a market designated just for food, for which this city is famous. The city also has a beautiful array of parks with fountains to cool off in, and even a golf course in the centre of the financial district. Along its coastal stretches, the surf is great for surfing, so why not put a board in the boot of your car and take off for the beach. Or if the history of Peru interests you, take a trip to 'Aliaga' house which dates from 1535. It is the oldest, and best preserved colonial house to see. Then kick back, park the car and try the local brandy, 'Pisco', but watch out, it's very strong!

I booked a corolla but got a prius instead, that was nice for gasoline consumption but we had a smaller trunk (in Peru is not a good idea to have luggage showing). Car was in good condition. Rental process was slow (a lot of paperwork compared to renting in US or Europe) but adequate. I declined all their insurances (used credit card provided coverage) and there was no pressure to take them. In summary, a good rental experience.

Good company to deal with, spoke English and new ish cars with some existing minor damage, driving in Lima will do that😉 Take some video of the car when you pick it up. Driving in Lima and Peru is not easy you will need some experience in following the local laws, Drive with lights on all the time especially and stick to the speed limit most of the time. The money hungry police await your arrival in your clearly tourists vehicle, in 5 days was pulled over 4 times and had to pay police twice = 800 soles
