- In urban areas, such as Cairo, road traffic flow is controlled by the traffic police, this can take some time getting used to, so visitors are advised to purchase a map of the city before starting their journey
- Drivers must remember to drive their vehicle on the right hand side of the road
- When driving in Egypts more rural areas look out for police checkpoints, be sure to keep all your driving, car hire and travel documents close at hand
- Some roads in Egypt are closed to foreign drivers especially in the Sinai region, check your embassy before making long trips outside of Cairo

In Egypt we hire cars to those as young as 20 years old, Choice of car may be limited and there is a small surcharge for those under 25.
Unfortunately, it is not allowed to cross any international border with the vehicle when hiring a car in Egypt from SIXT.
